Note that Telkom will enforce 10 digit dialling from 16 January 2007. Align offers Internet Solutions POPs by default, and SAIX POP at an additional charge.
- Internet Solutions POPs:
To change your POP (Point of Presence) number when using the Launcher:
- Click on 'Advanced Options'
- Click on 'Set Up'
- Click on 'Manage my Account'
- Enter your main email address and password
- Click on 'Update Personal Details' - and choose your closest city
- Save the details and click on 'Download Settings' Open the File (do NOT 'Save' this file)
If you did not make changes before 16 January 07 and you use the Launcher:
- Click Start / Programs / Accessories / Notepad Click File / Open Type in C:\PROGRAM FILES\ALIGN\LAUNCHER.INI
- Change the following entries (This assumes Pretoria POP is used) Refer to list of POP numbers for your area:
- From Local=3070306 LocalAreaCode=012 To Local=0123070306 LocalAreaCode= Click File / Save
- Click Exit
You may also need to force Windows to always dial 10 digits
If the above does not work:
- Click Start / Control Panel / Phone and Modem options
- Click Edit Change Area Code to 555 (This is an invalid area code, to force Windows to always dial 10 digits. If you dial through a PABX then enter 0 or 9 in the 'To access and outside line for long-distance calls' field. ) Click OK
To change your POP Number if NOT using the launcher:
Manually edit your dialup connection:
- Click Start / Control Panel / Network Connections then select the dialup connection.
- Right-click and choose Properties. Untick the 'Use dialing rules' box Edit the Phone number to include the Area code before the POP number
- Click OK
If you: - connect via a PABX add a 0 or 9 before 10 digit POP number - use a PrePaid Telkom phone, add four commas and your pin code after the 10 digit POP number - have VoiceMail enabled, contact Telkom or PABX provider for other numbers before the 10 digit POP number.

One POP number at local call charges: The SAIX POPs support V90 , V92, V44, ISDN 64 kbps (but NOT ISDN 128 kbps) standards. You must first subscribe to the SAIX product (and subscribe to ISDN 64K if you require ISDN over Saix)
To change your SAIX POP Number when using the launcher:
- Open your Launcher.
- Click on 'Advanced Options'
- Click on 'Set Up' or 'Configure'
- You will be connected to Align Portal
- Click on 'Manage my Account'
- Enter your MAIN email address and password
- Click on 'Manage my Services'
- Subscribe to the SAIX dialup product and click Done
- Click on 'Download SAIX Settings' on the left
- Open the File (do NOT 'Save' this file) To change to SAIX POP Number if NOT using the launcher:
- Edit the phone number in your Dial Up Network settings to 0860007249
- Edit your Dial-up User-id from say fpith55555@align to fpith55555@align@pop2
- Manually change your Outgoing email server to smtp.dial-up.net for relevant email accounts
- Leave your Incoming email server set to pophost.alignafrica.com
